Cooley Law hosts annual national event

Former U.S. Secretary of Energy and former United States Senator Spencer Abraham spoke during the recent 59th Annual National Conference of Law Reviews. The conference was held at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing. Abraham's presentation included an audience of nearly 250 students from 62 different law schools, who are active in their schools' law review publications. Abraham started Cooley's Law Review in 1981, and also taught Torts and Legal Research for the law school. "Having Secretary Abraham speak at the conference was uplifting," said Bradley Charles, Cooley Law School professor and chair of the National Conference of Law Reviews. "He helped the students understand their work on law reviews is important. And he was very entertaining as well." Abraham addressed several topics during his speech. The first topic was themed around living an exceptional life and was demonstrated through Abraham's personal experience as a U.S. senator. He explained how his political disagreements with Senator Ted Kennedy later led him to have a personal friendship with Kennedy. He engaged the students with a second topic involving the idea that people change and evolve over time. Published: Thu, Apr 4, 2013
