Willey accepted into Legal Diversity fellow program
Sarah K. Willey, Administrative Member of Miller Johnson’s Kalamazoo office, was accepted into the 2013/2014 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows Program. The program’s goal is to produce a diverse generation of up-and-coming attorneys with strong leadership and relationship skills who are committed to fostering diversity within their individual institutions and the profession.
The class of 100+ high-potential attorneys will begin the program in March in Washington DC. The Fellows have extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership and work with managing partners at some of the leading law firms as well as the general counsel of some of the country's largest companies. Over the course of the year, each honoree will embark on a learning program that includes in-person conferences, virtual training on the fine points of legal practice, and peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships.
Willey’s practice is focused on representing clients ranging from small family-owned businesses to large multinational corporations in labor and employment law matters including employment-related disputes such as discrimination and workplace harassment, with considerable experience with health care industry clients. She is the chair of the firm’s FMLA/ADA Solutions Practice Group.
Willey received her B.G.S. from University of Michigan, magna cum laude, and her J.D. from The George Washington University National Law Center, with honors. She is a member of American Health Lawyers.
Formed in 2009, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) is made up of the general counsels of the nation’s preeminent corporations and of the managing partners of the nation's leading law firms. The Fellows Program is just one of several initiatives launched by LCLD along with innovative programs to address "pipeline"—encouraging minorities and women to enter the law and supplying programs to increase their likelihood of success in law school and beyond.
