Charity Motors donates $5,000 to benefit for metro area foster children
Charity Motors, a Detroit-area charitable organization that collects and sells donated cars for area charities, recently announced that it will donate $5,000 to sponsor In Seventh Heaven, a yearly fundraising event to benefit a Detroit organization that serves foster children.
In Seventh Heaven, to be held on Saturday, June 1, at the Roostertail in Detroit, raises funds for For The Seventh Generation (FTSG), a program of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Foundation that matches donations of goods and services with metro area foster children, foster families, and young people aging out of foster care. Most recently, FTSG launched a successful Prom Palooza campaign to collect and distribute donated dresses and other prom accessories and facilitated a partnership between the Detroit Department of Human Services and the School of Dentistry at the University of Detroit Mercy to provide orthodontic care to all permanent wards of the court in Wayne County.
Charity Motors first supported For The Seventh Generation with a sponsorship of the 2012 In Seventh Heaven event.
"We are very appreciative of the continuing support that Charity Motors and its president, Norman Yatooma, has provided For The Seventh Generation," said FTSG Executive Director Lorraine H. Weber. "Norman is a tireless advocate for young people in need; his charitable work exemplifies the highest goals of public service that all attorneys should strive for.
"Thanks to his generous donation we will be able to serve even more foster children in 2013 through our growing program."
In 2012, For The Seventh Generation expanded to include Play It Forward, a program to provide free instruments and music lessons to foster children, and the Help Closet, which collects and distributes donations of everything from clothing to furniture.
"As hard as it was for my brothers and I to lose our father, I know that children in foster care endure their own heart-wrenching challenges, not the least of which is having to rely on strangers to raise them," Yatooma said. "Just as my own non-profit organization, Yatooma's Foundation For The Kids, helps children who have lost a parent, For The Seventh Generation goes the extra mile to support children who may have no family at all. We're all proud to be a small part of this organization's effort to make a big difference."
Yatooma joins organizations and individuals including GEM Asset Management, the Park West Gallery Foundation, and PrideSource Media Group as sponsors of this year's event, which will feature Sean Blackman and Wayne Gerard as Sin Hielo and the highly popular Motown and more cover band Emerging Soul.
Tickets for In Seventh Heaven are $125 and are available at www.fortheseventhgeneration.org. Group discounts are available.
