The 313 Project co-hosts free Social Security and Veterans Disability Clinic June 29
The 313 Project is partnering with Disability Attorneys of Michigan to host a free comprehensive Social Security and Veterans Disability Clinic on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Jesus Tabernacle of Deliverance Ministries at 11001 Chalmers St. The clinic is open and free to all, with a focus on serving indigent community members, veterans, and disabled individuals. Attendees will also receive a complimentary resource and hygiene packet that includes health and beauty products.
The Clinic’s Free services include: Legal advice for veterans and civilians (adults and children) in the areas of Social Security and veterans disability benefits; DHS benefits assistance; packets filled with community resources; health screenings (physical and mental) courtesy of Michigan State University Medical School; brunch with a fruit juice station; massages courtesy of Irene’s Myomassology Institute; cosmetology services (hair-cuts, shaves, etc); self-defense classes; yoga/meditation workshops courtesy of Santosha Yoga; hygiene products provided; and more/ Karmanos will also be present to talk with, and sign-up, the women participants for free mammograms and cancer screenings.
Attorney to conduct employee handbook webinar July 17
James M. Reid, IV, an associate attorney with Maddin, Hauser, Wartell, Roth & Heller P.C., a Southfield, Michigan-based law firm, will conduct the “Employee Handbook Tips and Strategies” Webinar, hosted by CredentialCheck™, on Wednesday, July 17 at 1:30 p.m.
Reid will instruct participants on how to reduce liability; provide strategies used to enforce appropriate written handbook policies; and outline new policy trends being used, such as social media and iPad communications. The Webinar is available for HRCI (or Human Resource Certification Institute) credits.
A resident of Canton, Reid focuses his practice in the area of employment law, working mainly with employers on a spectrum of issues including counseling and training human resources personnel. He also develops and improves employment policies and contracts, handbooks and employment agreements.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his juris doctor, with honors, from Wayne State University Law School, where he was an associate editor of the Wayne Law Review.
