Michigan Supreme Court announces several appointments
The Michigan Supreme Court has announced the following appointments to the Attorney Discipline Board:
— Michael Murray of Alaiedon Township, attorney and legal counsel/chief of staff for the Catholic Diocese of Lansing, is appointed for a term ending October 1, 2016. Murray is a former chief commissioner of the Michigan Supreme Court and former chair of the Attorney Grievance Commission.
— Rosalind E. Griffin, M.D. of Farmington Hills, psychiatrist practicing in the field of adult and adolescent psychotherapy with special qualifications in forensic psychiatry, is reappointed for a term ending October 1, 2016.
— James M. Cameron, Jr. of Ann Arbor, attorney and member in the law firm of Dykema Gossett PLLC, is appointed chairperson for a term ending October 1, 2014.
— Craig H. Lubben of Kalamazoo, attorney and member in the law firm of Miller Johnson, is appointed vice-chairperson for a term ending October 1, 2014.
The Attorney Discipline Board consists of six attorneys and three non-attorneys appointed by the Supreme Court; appointees serve on a volunteer basis.
The Michigan Supreme Court has announced the following appointments to the Attorney Grievance Commission:
— Victor A. Fitz of Cassopolis, attorney and Cass County prosecutor, is appointed for a term ending October 1, 2016.
— Reverend Douglas Ward Gallager, D.Min. of Beverly Hills, senior minister emeritus of the Birmingham Unitarian Church in Bloomfield Hills, is reappointed for term ending October 1, 2016.
— Barbara B. Smith of Bloomfield Hills, attorney and principal in the law offices of Barbara B. Smith PLLC and Smith Mediation Center, is reappointed for a term ending October 1, 2016. Smith is also appointed chairperson for a term ending October 1, 2014.
— Charles S. Kennedy III of Royal Oak, attorney and member in the law firm of Fildew Hinks, PLLC, is appointed vice-chairperson for term ending October 1, 2014.
The Attorney Grievance Commission, which was established in 1978 by order of the Michigan Supreme Court, investigates and prosecutes attorney misconduct cases. The nine members of the AGC serve on a voluntary basis. The AGC also employs a staff that includes attorneys and investigators.
Attorney Danielle M. Brown of Troy has been appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to serve as a commissioner-at-large on the State Bar of Michigan’s Board of Commissioners. Her three-year term begins on the adjournment of the outgoing Board of Commissioners meeting this afternoon.
Brown was recently reappointed to the Michigan Compensation Appellate Commission. She has been a member of the commission since 2011. Previously, Brown was an administrative law judge in the Michigan Administrative Hearing System. She also served as assistant deputy legal counsel to Governor Jennifer Granholm.
