Discussion at the first meeting of the History Book Club co-sponsored by the Macomb County Bar Foundation centered on the book “Supreme Power:?Franklin Roosevelt vs. the Supreme Court” by Jeff Shesol. On hand to direct the conversation was Stephen Steinhardt (left), an attorney with the Macomb County prosecutor’s office and an adjunct history professor at Macomb Comunity College. He is pictured with Susan Taylor-Meyers, a communication relations manager with Barnes & Noble, a co-sponsor and host of the event at its Shelby Township store. MCBF officials said earlier the books will focus on constitutional history, the Civil War and World Wars I and II, the courts and other significant historical events with those in attendance discussing the connection of the past to current events.
