Potestivo & Associates PC is pleased to announce the hiring of Nathan Lichtman. He joined the attorney team on Monday, Nov. 11, and will be located at the firm's Rochester Hills office serving as an associate attorney. Lichtman will be assisting with the firm's Illinois operations. He has an established presence at the firm as he has been employed as a title coordinator/law clerk at the Rochester Hills office since March 2013.
In 2002, Lichtman completed his B.A. in Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also earned a M.A. in Journalism from Marquette University, where he graduated in 2004. In May 2012, Nathan earned his law degree at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School.
Prior to joining Potestivo & Associates PC, Lichtman worked for over two years as a Title Review Law Clerk at a Detroit area law firm. During his final year of law school, he was a member of the Veterans Appellate Clinic and assisted with representing disabled veterans for potential appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
Lichtman is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association.

David M. Thoms, a principal at Miller Canfield, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the French-American Foundation of New York City.
The French-American Foundation works to enrich the relationship between France and the United States by bringing together leaders to discuss issues such as education, immigration, defense, energy, business and urban development, among other issues.
Thoms has been a leader in the French-American community for years. His service includes being a longtime board member and current president of the Alliance Française de Grosse Pointe and a past president of the French Festival of Detroit. He is a former board member and past president of the Federation of Alliances Françaises-USA and a current board member of the American Society of the French Academic Palms. He was awarded the Officier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques by the French Government for his contributions to French culture and education.
At Miller Canfield, Thoms spends time in both the New York City and Troy. offices. He assists clients with their business, estate and succession planning matters as well as assisting non-profit and charitable organizations with policy, tax, compliance, governance and fundraising.

Andrew B. Wachler spoke on Medicare and Medicaid audit contractors to members of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice at the group's 2013 conference in Washington, D.C.
The program focused on specific home health and hospice issues that contractors target during Medicare and Medicaid audits, an area in which home health and hospice providers are experiencing increased scrutiny.
NAHC is the largest professional association representing the interests of Americans who need home care (including acute, long-term, and terminal care) and the caregivers that provide them with in-home health and supportive services.
Wachler has been practicing health care law for over 25 years. He counsels health care providers and organizations nationwide in a variety of health care legal matters. Plante Moran announced that CPA and attorney Dean Rocheleau will serve as office tax director of Plante Moran's new Detroit office, which is scheduled to open Nov.18 in the Compuware Building.
Rocheleau, who joined Plante Moran in 1980 and became a tax partner in 1989, is currently based in the Southfield office. His practice has an emphasis on real estate and construction and he has specialized expertise in the taxation of limited liability companies, partnerships, and S corporations and their owners.

Miller Canfield Chief Executive Officer Michael McGee has been appointed to the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce's board of directors.
Before taking the helm as CEO in April 2013, McGee was a long-time member of Miller Canfield's Public Finance team with nearly three decades of public policy experience and a broad legal background. He played a major role in the drafting of Michigan's emergency management law and before becoming CEO, he represented several municipalities operating under emergency management, including Detroit.
He is named a Best Lawyer for his work in Public Finance Law and is recognized as an expert in public entity law, public/private partnerships and intergovernmental cooperation.
