Jackson Community Foundation grant provides support for Restorative Justice Project

 Jackson Community Foundation gave a $7,500 grant in October to Southeastern Dispute Resolution Services (SDRS) to help expand the Restorative Justice Suspension and Expulsion Project, which applies mediation to address student conflicts and avoid suspending or expelling students.

Ken Toll, President & CEO of the United Way of Jackson County, which has fiduciary responsibility for SDRS, said the project aligns perfectly with United Way's emphasis on education. 
 
"When kids aren't in school, their academic progress is not the only thing that suffers.  School is where most of us learn how to manage conflict in a social setting," Toll said. "This project tackles both of those needs effectively."
