Maly completed her undergraduate education in economics and health policy studies from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and worked for a local health care system with a focus in risk management, medical malpractice, and professional liability issues. She completed her legal education at Case Western University School of Law.

Maly has been admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association.

BROOKS KUSHMAN PC is pleased to announce that ISAAC SLUTSKY has joined the firm as an associate based at the firm's Southfield office. The announcement was made by Mark Cantor, president of the firm.

In his role, Slutsky will further strengthen the firm's patent prosecution practice with his experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the computer science arena. Slutsky counsels clients across a wide range of industries including computer software, consumer electronics, automotive, telecommunications, and medical devices.

Before joining Brooks Kushman, Slutsky served as an attorney with Rader, Fishman, & Grauer in Bloomfield Hills focusing on patent prosecution in the computer science arts. Previously, he worked as a software developer at Compuware, where he designed and implemented new product features. Slutsky also worked as an engineering assistant in combination with the local government for a non-profit safety organization collecting and studying traffic data.

Slutsky earned a law degree from Wayne State University Law School and a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Michigan. He is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan, United States Patent & Trademark Office, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Miller Canfield

The law firm of MILLER CANFIELD announces that CHARLES H. BROWER II has joined the firm as Of Counsel to the International Dispute Resolution Section. He will continue full-time as a professor of law at Wayne State University Law School where he teaches International Commercial Arbitration, Investment Treaty Arbitration, Contracts, and the Law of Armed Conflict.

Brower is an elected member of the American Law Institute, vice chair of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, and winner of the Smit-Lowenfeld Prize for 2012. His path-breaking article on the ALI's Draft Restatement on International Commercial Arbitration appears under the title "Hollow Spaces," 61 Buff. L. Rev. 731 (2013).

Brower has served as advocate for the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica in proceedings before the International Court of Justice, as a visiting Fellow at Cambridge University's Lauterpacht Research Centre for International Law, and a member of the American Arbitration Association's observer delegation to UNCITRAL Working Group II.

BUTZEL LONG attorney and shareholder PHILLIP C. KOROVESIS was recently elected to serve a three-year term on the State Bar of Michigan Negligence Council.

The council provides education, information, and analysis about issues of concern through meetings, seminars, public service programs, to name a few. In addition, it has as its purpose the study of the procedures, rules and statutes that embody the law of negligence to promote scholarship among its members and promote the fair, equitable and speedy administration of negligence litigation in the Michigan trial and appellate courts.

Based in Butzel Long's Detroit office, Korovesis is a Litigation Practice Group Leader and also serves as the chair of Butzel Long's Trade Secret and Non-Compete Specialty Team, which focuses on trade secret, non-compete and business tort litigation.

His practice is focused on commercial disputes, with trial, litigation and consultation expertise in non-compete/trade secret disputes, product liability defense, life insurance claims and business and financial services industry disputes.

Korovesis has successfully tried cases in state and federal courts in various parts of the country and represented clients in state and federal appellate courts.
