The Polish American Legal Society (PALS) recently hosted a general meeting at the Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck. Addressing the gathering was investigative reporter M.L. Elrick (fourth from left) who received a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the Kwame Kilpatrick scandal. Welcoming Elrick to the meeting were (left to right) Warren attorney Mark Teklinski, Wayne County 20th District Court Chief Judge Mark J. Plawecki, Wayne County 34th District Court Judge Tina Brooks Green, Eastpointe attorney William Jurczak, Anna Witkowska of University Bank, Kinga Gorzelewski of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, Southgate attorney Doug Hamel, Macomb County 37th District Court Judge John Chmura, Detroit attorney Thaddeus Kedzierski, and Berkley attorney Michael Dean. Prior to his presentation, Elrick said he planned to talk about “politicians and lawbreakers, which tend to be the same thing, and some people who have not yet been before some of these judges or have employed some of these lawyers but who may some day do both and certainly have plenty of reasons, I’m sure.”
