Carole F. Youngblood
A memorial service is scheduled Saturday, March 29 for retired Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Carole Youngblood, who died Feb. 12 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was 67.
Youngblood was elected to the Detroit circuit court bench in 1994 and re-elected in 2000 and 2006. She retired from the court when her term ended Jan. 1, 2013.
Prior to her serving on the bench, Youngblood practiced law with her husband, Amos E. Williams, from 1986-94 at Williams & Youngblood PC in Detroit.
Youngblood graduated from the Detroit College of Law in 1986.
She was a member of the Michigan Judges Association, Women Judges Association, American Judges Association, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, National Lawyers Guild, Metropolitan
Detroit Bar Association, Wolverine Bar Association and Women Lawyers Foundation.
Youngblood is survived by her husband, son Eric and daughter Jennifer Fouche, three grandchildren and a brother and sister.
The memorial service is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. at the Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Michigan Chapter of the ACLU, 2966 Woodward Ave., Detroit, 48201; or Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
