Changgang (Charlie) Lou has joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP as an attorney in its Intellectual Property Department and is located in the firm’s Kalamazoo office. He is the fifth attorney to join Honigman’s IP practice in the past five months.
Lou, shown at left, brings to Honigman nearly 10 years of experience as a research scientist at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has an extensive background and is a published author on designing and synthesizing small molecules, protein therapeutics and antibody-drug conjugates. He will join the Honigman IP life science group and focus on patent preparation and prosecution, and IP opinion work.
He earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School and an M.S. in organic and medicinal chemistry from the University of Iowa. Lou earned a B.S. in chemistry from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China. He recently became a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Lou is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and is applying for admittance to the State Bar of Michigan.
Honigman’s IP Department consists of more than 75 legal professionals with experience in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret services, including search, procurement, enforcement and anti-counterfeiting. The professionals in the IP Department serve clients from large corporations to start-up companies and have experience in numerous industries, including automotive (OEM and suppliers), advertising, banking, biotechnology, consumer products, e-commerce, electronics, fashion, food and beverage, gaming and hospitality, insurance, medical services and devices, pharmaceuticals, publishing (newspapers, books, magazines, multimedia), real estate, restaurant, retailing, software, tele-communications and transportation.
