 Justice Foundation of West Michigan is accepting grant Applications

The Justice Foundation of West Michigan (JFWM) is now accepting grant applications. Proposed projects or activities should have a nexus within Western Michigan or its surrounding environs and be consistent with the JFWM mission statement.

The Foundation prefers that the applicant be recognized as a 501(c)(3) or similar exempt organization. If the applicant is a current or former JFWM grant recipient, satisfactory compliance with the Foundation’s grant reporting requirements is a pre-requisite for eligibility.
The deadline for applications is March 21, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. The Foundation Committee will select from among the applications received, and grants will be awarded within 90 days of the application deadline. For more information and full award criteria, visit www.

Plachta Murphy announces new associate

The law firm of Plachta, Murphy and Associates, P.C., a premier West Michigan full-service law firm, is pleased to announce that Jeffrey M. Black has joined the firm as an Associate Attorney. 
 
Black is a Grand Rapids native and a graduate of the University of Michigan. In 2005, Black graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law  Before joining Plachta, Murphy and Associates, Black served as a full-time law clerk in the Kent County Circuit Court for the Honorable Dennis C. Kolenda, the Honorable Mark A. Trusock, and the Honorable Christopher P. Yates.

Black is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and served as 2010-2011 Chair of the Young Lawyers Section. He resides in Grand Rapids with his wife and daughter.

Black will focus his practice on Estate Planning, Probate Administration, Long-term Care Planning, Business Law, Real Estate Law, and Litigation.
