 Wayne Law jumps 18 spots in U.S. News & World Report rankings

Wayne State University Law School moved into the top 100, jumping 18 spots to No. 87, in U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Law Schools for 2014.

The rankings were released, Tuesday, March 11.
 
Wayne Law’s 2014 ranking is its best in nearly 15 years and represents a climb of 34 spots in just the past four years. The 18-spot increase from 2013’s ranking of 105 is one of the largest jumps of any law school in the rankings.

“This ranking validates the quality of the education we provide to our students every day,” Interim Dean Jocelyn Benson said. “It shows in the consistently high bar passage rates of our students and the fact that our graduates have one of the highest employment rates in the state. The university and our Wayne Law family of alumni, faculty, staff, students and supporters have so much for which to be proud.”

Wayne Law joins two other Michigan law schools in the top 100. Michigan State University College of Law also is ranked at 87. University of Michigan Law School is ranked No. 10.

While Benson, who became interim dean in December 2012, celebrated the accomplishments and hard work that have led to the climb in ranking this year, she stressed that the journey continues.

“While I’m proud to have led Wayne Law during this past year of significant growth, we won’t rest on our accomplishments,” Benson said. “We continue to solidify Wayne Law’s role as the premier public-interest law school in the Midwest. Continuing the growth of our civil rights, entrepreneurship, environmental and international programs, as well as their related clinics and other hands-on learning opportunities, will ensure we are training the next generation of lawyers, advocates and leaders to make an impact with their careers and in their communities.”
 

ABA appoints Dresevic to Health Law Section’s Governing Council

Adrienne Dresevic, founding shareholder of The Health Law Partners, was recently appointed to the American Bar Association’s Governing Council of the Health Law Section. Appointed by the ABA Health Law Section Chair Kathleen Scully-Hayes, Dresevic will serve as a member-at-large through 2015. In this role, Dresevic joins a select group of appointed attorneys responsible for the growth, strategic development and general operations for the Health Law Section. Additionally, Dresevic will continue to serve in multiple roles with the ABA, including co-chair for the Publications Committee, chair of the Stark & Anti-Kickback Toolkit Editorial Board, liaison to The Health Law Editorial Board, vice chair for the Revenue Committee and vice chair for the Physicians Legal Issues Conference.
 
Dresevic, a founding shareholder of the The Health Law Partners, is an avid writer and speaker. She has published more than 60 articles on health care law and presents at national conferences throughout the year. She received her juris doctorate from Wayne State University Law School.
