Varnum attorney Luis Avila has been appointed to the Michigan Board of Medicine.
The 19-member board is responsible for the examination, regulation, licensing and registration of physicians and surgeons, and for the discipline of licensees who have violated the Michigan Public Health Code. The board, located within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, oversees the practice of more than 36,000 licensed physicians.
Avila is an associate in Varnum’s Labor and Employment practice group. He has a wide range of experience in traditional labor matters, including grievances, arbitrations, collective bargaining negotiations, union drives, and matters in front of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Michigan Employment Relations Commission (MERC).
