 Dickinson Wright lawyer to get MDTC Golden Gavel Award 

Dickinson Wright attorney Doron Yitzchaki will receive the Golden Gavel Award from the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC) on May 16 during the MDTC’s Awards Banquet.

Yitzchaki is an associate in the firm’s Ann Arbor office. He focuses his practice in the areas of automotive litigation, bankruptcy, restructuring & creditors’ rights, and commercial & business litigation. He has successfully represented clients in numerous bankruptcy and commercial litigation proceedings. Mr. Yitzchaki is a member of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and is Co-Chair of the Trial Practice Section for the Washtenaw County Bar Association. He received his B.A. from the University of Judaism College of Arts and Sciences and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
 
The MDTC Young Lawyers Section – Golden Gavel Award is awarded to a lawyer who demonstrates significant contribution to professionalism and courtesy in the practice of law in a way that promotes the image and honorable reputation of the profession. The recipient also demonstrates significant achievement in the area of advancing “young attorneys” as evidenced by the recipient’s leadership of others and advancement of the image of his peers by way of mentoring, awards, civic leadership, and other avenues of pursuit. WSU?Law seminar looks at Detroit  bankruptcy and beyond

Wayne State University Law School hosts a two-day seminar “Detroit Bankruptcy and Beyond: Organizing for Change in Distressed Cities” at the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium, 471 W. Palmer St., Detroit. 
 
The event brings together organizers, policymakers, community members, researchers and the public from Detroit and across the nation to advance equity and inclusion in cities facing bankruptcy and financial crisis by analyzing shared challenges and root causes and crafting strategies and solutions. 

Sponsors include Wayne Law’s Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights, Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society at the University of California-Berkeley and MOSES (Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling Strength), a congregation-based Detroit social justice organization. 

The first segment of the event will be Monday, April 7, from 5:30 - 9 p.m. and the second segment will be Tuesday, April 8, from 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
