Randon appointed U.S. bankruptcy judge
On March 20, 2014, the Honorable Alice M. Batchelder, Chief Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, appointed Mark A. Randon as a United States bankruptcy judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. Judge Randon received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1989 and a juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School in 1992. After graduating law school, Judge Randon worked as a labor and employment attorney for Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, and then for Miller Canfield Paddock and Stone PLC, before becoming counsel for United Technologies Automotive. On February 5, 2001, Judge Randon became the youngest individual to be appointed as a State of Michigan district court judge when he was appointed to the 36th District Court. Judge Randon served as a 36th District Court Judge from 2001 to 2009. In July, 2009, Judge Randon was sworn in as a magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Judge Randon served in that position until his appointment as a United States bankruptcy judge. Judge Randon is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Federal Bar Association, and the Association of Black Judges of Michigan.
