Child advocacy center schedules fundraiser

Care House of Macomb County has scheduled its 18th annual “Foods for Kids” fundraiser on Tuesday, April 29 at Andiamo Celebrity showroom in Warren.

As part of the festivities, Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Anthony V. Marrocco and Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham will be presented with the organization’s Champion for Children award.

“We are very fortunate to have two such distinguished public servants on our board of directors that support our mission and devote their energy to protecting children and helping families,” said Care House Executive Director Dorie Vazquez-Nolan. “We are very pleased to present them both with our Champion for Children Award.”

Along with music and food, the event will feature a raffle and live auction packages.

The child advocacy center located in Mount Clemens coordinates the investigation and treatment of child sexual and severe physical abuse.

Vazquez-Nolan said Care house has conducted more than 4,500 forensic interviews of children and has provided services to more than 6,800 families since opening in 1996.

She said the goals of workers at Care House are to minimize the stress associated with the investigation, help the child and family members through the prosecution phase and provide support to begin the healing process.

Andiamo Celebrity Show is located 7096 E. 14 Mile Road in Warren.
