FBA bestows Gilman Award

The Federal Bar Association (FBA), Eastern District of Michigan chapter, recently hosted the 2014 Leonard R. Gilman Award Luncheon at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. John Minock (far left) of Cramer, Minock & Sweeney PLC was this year’s award recipient. Among those on hand to congratulate Minock were (left to right):?guest speaker Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget McCormack, U.S. District Court Judge Judith Levy and FBA President Michael Lee of the Law Offices of Lee & Correll. Throughout his career, Minock has specialized in criminal defense, handlng trials and appeals in both state and federal courts. He was one of the original members of the Criminal Defense Association of Michigan, which was organized in 1976, and he has served as president, vice president and a member of the board. He currently serves as chair of its Amicus Committee. The Gilman Award is given annually to a practitioner of criminal law who exemplifies the excellence, professionalism and commitment to public service of Len Gilman, who was U.S. attorney in Detroit at the time of his death in 1985.
