Students consider 'why every vote matters'

The Macomb County Bar Foundation Law Day observances this year focused on “American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters.” Students throughout the county expressed themselves on that topic through posters and essays and submitted them as part of the foundation’s annual contest. Among the first-place winners was Lenya Gatti (left), who is pictured with her mother, Macomb County Bar Association President Julie Gatti. Lenya received first-place honors in the sixth-grade essay contest with her submission “Why Should I Vote?”  The yearly competition involves students from kindergarten through eighth grade. An awards ceremony was held at the county administration building and many of the award-winning posters were displayed.
