Charles F. Robinson, board certified elder law attorney of Clearwater, Fla., was named the 2014 recipient of the Samuel S. Smith Award by the American Bar Association Law Practice Division. The award is presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in law practice management throughout their career.
Robinson, an active member of the ABA Law Practice Division for more than 40 years, served as its chair from 1987-1988. In addition to serving on many boards within the division, he also has served two terms on the ABA’s Coordinating Commission on Legal Technology and as a commissioner of the Commission on Law and Aging. Robinson was inducted into the first class of the College of Law Practice Management in 1991, with Sam Smith as the presenting Fellow for the induction.
Robinson has spoken to numerous state bars and conducted planning programs for them. He, along with division members William C. Cobb and Phil J. Shuey, designed the program for the Seize the Future conferences in 1997 and 1999. “Charlie Robinson is one of the most important people in the discussion of the future of the legal profession. He is always on the front line for the profession and is ready to help anyone who is working on their future as a lawyer,” Cobb said.
Robinson will receive the award at a reception in his honor on August 7 during the 2014 ABA Annual Meeting in Boston.
