Cooley Auburn Hills campus rated as 'impressive'

Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus has been selected as one of the 50 most impressive law school buildings by Best Choice Schools.

The independent rankings, published by BestChoiceSchools.com, ranked Cooley’s building 35th in the publication’s article, The 50 Most Impressive Law School Buildings in the World.

The study highlighted Cooley’s LEED Silver Certification efforts, which includes the building’s green roof, rainwater-harvesting system, low flow plumbing and energy efficient lighting as outstanding features of the Cooley facility.

According to the article, “building architects sought to maximize light and air flow throughout the structure with large windows and open spaces.” The Cooley facility is the fourth law school in the nation to be LEED certified.

“We are honored to have our Auburn Hills facility recognized as one of the most impressive law school buildings in the world,” said Layne Maloney, Cooley vice president of operations and chief operating officer, in response to the independent study.

Cooley prides itself, he said, “on using sustainable building practices for all its facilities — during all of Cooley's construction and renovation projects. Ultimately, these practices save the school money over the long term and help preserve natural resources in the process.”

Renovations to the existing structure, along with a 64,000 square foot addition, were designed and implemented in collaboration with Rockford Construction and SHW Group architects and engineers.

Cooley’s Auburn Hills campus, located at 2630 Featherstone Road, sits on 68 acres.

Cooley has campuses across Michigan in Lansing, Auburn Hills, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor, and in Tampa Bay, Florida.
