Miller Canfield lawyers named Super Lawyers and Rising Stars in 2014
In September, Miller Canfield announced that 107 of its lawyers had been recognized in Super Lawyers in 2014. Seventy-one lawyers were named as “Super Lawyers” in Michigan; three in Illinois; and one in Ohio. Twenty-seven lawyers in Michigan were named as “Rising Stars;” four in Illinois; and one in New York.
Special recognition went to Thomas W. Cranmer, whom the publication ranked as the top lawyer in Michigan. Cranmer is the leader of Miller Canfield’s Litigation Practice Group. His practice focuses largely on white-collar criminal defense, complex commercial litigation and “bet-the-company” litigation. This is the third time in four years that Cranmer has been hailed as the top lawyer in the state.
Megan P. Norris (Employ-ment and Labor, Detroit office) was also ranked within the Top 100 Lawyers in Michigan. She was also listed among the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Michigan, along with Amy M. Johnston (Personal Injury Defense: Products, Detroit office).

Super Lawyers magazine names lawyers in each state who received the highest point totals, as chosen by their peers and through independent research. Rising Stars names the state’s top up-and-coming lawyers. It combines peer nominations and evaluations with third-party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis.
Michigan Super Lawyers is published annually in September in a special advertising supplement in The New York Times.
