ABA releases Magna Carta book to mark 800th anniversary
The book takes a fresh look at Magna Carta and examines its impact on U.S. institutions, such as the U.S. Supreme Court and presidential power. It also explores Magna Carta’s continuing influence on individual rights, international law and freedom of religion, among other areas.
The authors are Daniel Barstow Magraw, a senior fellow and professional lecturer at the institute and president emeritus of its Center for International Environmental Law; Andrea Martinez, an associate with the International Justice Initiative at the Foreign Policy Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies; and Roy E. Brownell II, an attorney with expertise in constitutional law, defense and national security, and public law.
