JCBA volunteers needed for Jan. 31 Polar Plunge

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Jackson Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Michigan will take place at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Pointe Bar and Grill, 1200 Eagle Point Road, Clark Lake.

In order to help Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI), the Jackson County Bar Association will sponsor a team. If you are interested in being a team member, contact Katie Branigan at kbraniga@co.jackson.mi.us or call 517-788-4283, by Friday, Jan. 16 so that team t-shirts can be ordered. There will also be free promotional giveaways for team members.
SOMI provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Athletes build physical fitness, develop self-confidence, and prepare for participation in society. SOMI is supported entirely by private funding and without support of state or federal funds. The generosity of Michigan organizations, individuals and businesses enables the program to continue.
Law Enforcement Torch Run is celebrating its 31st year in 2015. LETR for Special Olympics is the movement’s largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In 2014, the LETR raised more than $1,000,000 for SOMI.
The JCBA needs willing participants to take the plunge and also needs team cheerleaders. This is a fun way to help over 300 athletes in the Jackson area.
