38th Annual Groundhog Gallop 5K Run/Walk set Jan. 31

 The 38th Annual Groundhog Gallop 5K Run/Walk is set noon, Saturday, Jan. 31, at  Middle School at Parkside, 2400 4th Street, Jackson, with registration starting at 10:30 a.m.

Runners can register as individuals or in teams; with a discount for families of three or more that register together. Registered participants will receive light refreshments and a long-sleeve event shirt.
The entry fee is $25 plus $2.50 RunSignUp.com fee, online only until Jan. 29. The late registration fee is $30, by cash or check, payable at packet pick up, 12 to 6 p.m., Jan. 30, 9th Floor, One Jackson Square Building; or Jan. 31 at check-in.

Prizes will be awarded to walkers and runners in the following categories: 1st place male/female; 1st place master's male/female; 1st, 2nd, 3rd in age group.
Proceeds from this event will support Step by Step Mileage Club in local elementary schools. Step by Step Mileage Club is a way to encourage children to become more physically active. This voluntary program offers children incentives for every mile walked/run, with the goal of logging 26.2 miles, the distance of a full marathon.
The  Groundhog Gallop will not be cancelled due to inclement weather.
