Bill Boudreaux elected to Brinks' board of directors

Attorney Bill Boudreaux has been elected to a one-year term as a member of the board of directors of Brinks Gilson & Lione, one of the nation's largest intellectual property law firms.

Boudreaux, a member in the Ann Arbor office, is a shareholder in the firm and serves as co-chair of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical practice group. He has practiced as a patent attorney specializing in pharmaceuticals and chemicals since 1992. His practice includes client counseling for strategic patent portfolio development, global patent prosecution, IP diligence, and opinions for patentability, validity and freedom to operate.

Boudreaux's experience includes close to 15 years as in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical industry, including roles as patent counsel at Pfizer, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Co. He was primary patent counsel for several late-stage and post-launch drug products including four blockbuster drugs.

In addition to his counseling roles, Boudreaux has extensive experience in global patent portfolio creation, legal opinions, product life-cycle planning and IP diligence.

His experience also includes Hatch-Waxman litigation strategy and support, prosecution of patent reexamination and reissue applications, transactional work, appellate brief writing and international patent procurement and enforcement.

Named as a Leading Intellectual Property Lawyer, Leading Lawyers Network, 2014 and a "Life Science Star," Intellectual Property Law, LMG Life Sciences, 2012-2014, Boudreaux represents a broad range of biotech and pharma clients ranging from large companies to start-ups.

Boudreaux earned his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University, and his J.D. from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center.

In further news, six shareholders from the Michigan offices have been named or reappointed firm-wide chairpersons of the legal and industry practice groups and geographic task forces.

In the area of specialty legal practice groups, Michael Spink will serve as new chair of the Licensing Group and Jon Beaupre will serve as new co-chair of the Post-Grant Patent Group. Both work in the firm's Ann Arbor office.

In the area of industry practice groups, Bill Boudreaux continues as co-chair of the Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals Industry Practice Group; Eric Sosenko continues as chair of the Mechanical Group and Michael Spink continues as chair of the Intellectual Asset Management Group. Lawrence G. (L.G.) Almeda will continue as both chair of the Nanotechnology Group and chair of the firm's Brazil task force. All four work in the firm's Ann Arbor office. Kelly Burris from the Detroit office continues as chair of the firm's Green Technology Industry Practice Group.
