Scout's Honor

Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Elizabeth Pezzetti (back row, second from left) was pleased to welcome Cub Scout troop 1029 and its scout master, attorney Patrick McCarthy (back row, far left), to her courtroom on Wednesday, Jan. 28, to meet Amos, the founding canine member of the Canine Advocacy Program (CAP). Program Director Daniel N. Cojanu (holding Amos’ leash) informed the scouts about CAP and its mission to give direct support to child victims involved in the criminal justice system.  CAP provides a highly trained dog that will accompany a child victim to interviews as well as court appearances to reduce the child’s anxiety. The program is the first of its kind in Michigan and is available at no cost to assist law enforcement as well as the courts.
