Victor to present at matrimonial lawyers conference in Panama
Family law attorney and author, Richard S. Victor, Of Counsel to Hertz Schram, PC, has been asked to be a speaker by the National American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers for their mid-year meeting, taking place in Panama City, Panama, March 8-13 at the Westin Playa Bonita Hotel.
Victor, who is the national chair of the Academy’s Professionalism and Collegiality Committee, will be speaking on “Promoting Professionalism through better Communication Skills and Techniques.”
Joining him for the presentation will be internationally acclaimed communication expert Dan O’Connor, AAML national Vice-President Susan Myres and AAML Fellow JoAl Cannon Sheridan.
Victor, a former President of the Michigan chapter of the AAML, served on the National Board of Governors of the Academy, was national CLE chair of the AAML from 2004-2007 and was named the Academy’s National Fellow of the Year in 2006. Victor is one of only 95 attorneys nationally to be elected a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers.
‘Celebrating Our Diverse Bar’ March 5
With more than two dozen participating bar associations, “Celebrating Our Diverse Bar” brings together friends and colleagues, lawyers and judges, from all practice areas and backgrounds. The event takes place Thursday, March 5 from 5-7:30 p.m. at London Chop House Cigar Lounge and Dining Room, 155 W. Congress.
Attendees will enjoy appetizers and a cash bar while catching up with colleagues. Registration is $15 (cash bar), and advance registration is required. Lawyer Trust Accounts: Management Principles and Recordkeeping
This half-day ethics seminar will feature presentations on how to manage lawyer trust accounts and effectively use forms, checklists and other recordkeeping resources. The seminar, open to lawyers and their staff members, is an excellent way to learn more about Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15 and 1.15A.
Participants will receive practical information as well as materials prepared by the presenters: SBM Professional Standards Division Director Danon Goodrum-Garland, SBM Assistant General Counsel Nkrumah Johnson-Wynn, SBM Assistant Counsel Alecia Ruswinckel, and Attorney Grievance Commission Senior Associate Counsel Rhonda Pozehl.
The seminar will be held Tuesday, March 24 from 1:30–4:45 p.m. at the State Bar of Michigan, 306 Townsend St, Lansing.
Cost: $50 for lawyers, $25 for non-lawyers.
No “walk-in” registrations will be accepted.
