Veterans Treatment Court honors graduates

THE MACOMB?COUNTY VETERANS TREATMENT COURT (MCVTC) recently held a ceremony to pay tribute to the most recent graduates of its program. Among those on hand to recognize the accomplishments of the graduates were (left to right) Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham; William Bailey; Macomb County Board of Comissioners Chairman David Flynn; Capt. Elizabeth Darga with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department; 41-B District Court Judge Carrie Fuca, who hears MCVTC cases; 54B District Court Judge David Jordan, who heads a Veterans Treatment Court in Ingham County; Sherriee Detzler; Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark Switalski, who serves on the MCVTC; Barbara Reyes; Lt. Col. John Walus, who coordinates the Veterans Mentor Program in Macomb County; Gail Pamukov-Miller, VTC defense counsel and president of the Friends of the MCVTC; Kumar Palepu; and Robert Viar. Missing from the photo were Ann Pytlowany and Kara Jacquemain. The MCTVC’s mission is to treat the underlying issues that brought the veteran into the criminal justice system and to support the veteran so that he or she will return to being a productive member of the community. During the graduation ceremony, Friends of the MCVTC presents a challenge coin to the veterans to acknowledge their effort and success.
