The lawyers and judges of the Jewish Bar Association of Michigan (JBAM) are hosting the first Annual Dinner and Reception Honoring the Judiciary on Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. at the Westin Hotel in Southfield.
This year, the association will celebrate and recognize federal and state judges elected or appointed from 2014 through 2015.
Michigan Supreme Court Justice Richard Bernstein, the first blind justice elected by voters statewide to the Michigan Supreme Court last November, will be the featured speaker and honoree.
JBAM is a multi-generational legal organization with a mission to provide pro-bono legal aid, create mentoring opportunities, offer educational classes and programs to its members, and partner with other organizations to support the community. The association is not limited to attorneys and prospective members don’t need to be Jewish to join.
Since formation in 2014, JBAM has quickly grown its membership base to more than 200 members, and anyone who has a connection to law or wants to network with attorneys is encouraged to join.
The event is open to the public. The cost is $20 for JBAM members before May 4, $35 after May 4 and $40 for non-members.
Pre-registration is requested. To register online, visit jbam-honors-the-judges.eventbrite.com.
