PONTIAC (AP) — Officials have announced $7.9 million in funding to clean up contamination and redevelop an 80-acre site in downtown Pontiac.
U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence said the Michigan Strategic Fund approved the local and school tax capture for the Oakland County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.
The Southfield Democrat says it’s part of the M1 Concourse project to re-use the vacant General Motors Pontiac Validation Center property.
The funds will pay for alleviating of contamination, demolition, site preparation and infrastructure improvements.
M1 Concourse chief executive Brad Oleshansky says he expects the project to create 95 mostly fulltime jobs and generate $45 million in capital investment.
