Marlo Johnson Roebuck elevated to office managing shareholder in Detroit and Grand Rapids

Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Marlo Johnson Roebuck has been elevated to Office Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Detroit and Grand Rapids locations.  Roebuck succeeds Maurice Jenkins, who planted the Jackson Lewis flag in Detroit in February 2008 and will return to practicing law full-time.

“We are very appreciative of Maurice’s hard work and ability to attract and retain the excellent team we have now in Detroit and Grand Rapids,” said Chairman Vincent A. Cino.  “Marlo is a strong leader who has demonstrated great skill and talent both as a lawyer and as a business developer throughout her tenure at Jackson Lewis, and we look forward to seeing how she will grow the office after benefitting from Maurice’s guidance.”

“Maurice has been a great mentor, and under his management our offices in Detroit and Grand Rapids have developed excellent reputations in the local legal community,” said Roebuck.  “I am excited to take the reins and lead these highly skilled attorneys as we expand our footprint in Michigan and throughout the Midwest.”

Roebuck represents employers of all sizes on the full spectrum of laws governing the workplace, including but not limited to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the ADA. She has successfully attained on behalf of clients no cause verdicts in court and arbitration, and summary judgment, as well as procured reasonable settlements in mediation.

In addition, she is an information privacy professional, advising clients on the protection of employee data and social media issues. The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) has certified her as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).  She also trains senior leadership and human resource professionals on EEO compliance. Roebuck, who has been recognized in “Who’s Who Black Detroit” and included in Michigan Super Lawyers, received her B.B.A. in Business Administration from University of Michigan and her J.D. from DePaul University’s College of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and the business manager and an articles and notes editor of the DePaul Law Review.
