Jackson Lewis PC is pleased to announce Marlo Johnson Roebuck has been elevated to office managing shareholder of the firm's Detroit and Grand Rapids locations. Roebuck succeeds Maurice Jenkins who planted the Jackson Lewis flag in Detroit in February 2008 and will return to practicing law full-time.

Webley earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan. After college, she moved to New York City, performing in Broadway musicals such as "42nd Street," "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "West Side Story."
In 2011, Webley earned her law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law.
Following law school, Webley practiced law in Indianapolis for four years as an associate at Ice Miller LLP where she advised corporate and healthcare clients on a variety of litigation, regulatory and corporate matters. Throughout her time in Indianapolis, Webley regularly volunteered with School on Wheels, a non-profit organization that provides educational advocacy and one-on-one tutoring to school-aged children impacted by homelessness, serving as a tutor and the chair of the SPOKES Speakers Bureau.

The Michigan Supreme Court today appointed two Michigan judges to business courts. Judge Lita M. Popke will serve in the 3rd Circuit Business Court in Wayne County, replacing retiring Judge Daniel P. Ryan. Judge Richard L. Caretti will serve in the 16th Circuit Business Court in Macomb County in a newly-added position.
Popke first joined the 3rd Circuit bench in 2000 and has served in the court's Civil Division since 2012. Popke previously practiced business law, appearing before the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court. She is a former president and secretary/treasurer of the Michigan Judges Association, and has served as a faculty member for the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) Michigan Judicial Institute's "New Judges Seminar." Popke received her law degree from the University of Detroit Law School in 1983.
Caretti has served on the bench in the 16th Circuit Court since 2002 and currently serves as the presiding judge for the court's Civil Division. Caretti also served as a "Settlement Conference Judge" for the Michigan Court of Appeals. Previously, Caretti practiced business law for 23 years. He earned his law degree from the Detroit College of Law in 1980, after serving eight years as a cadet and police officer in the Detroit Police Department.
Business courts are intended to provide a case management structure that facilitates more timely, effective, and predictable resolution of complex business cases. Michigan's 17 business courts are an important example of how the Supreme Court is driving change to help trial courts measure performance and adopt best practices.

The Michigan Supreme Court has appointed Judge Freddie G. Burton Jr. as chief judge of the Wayne County Probate Court. He replaces Chief Judge Milton L. Mack Jr. who was appointed State Court Administrator in July.
Burton joined the Wayne County Probate Court in 1987 and was most recently re-elected in 2012. Before becoming a judge, he practiced law and served as a Wayne County commissioner and a public administrator. He received his law degree from Wayne State University Law School.

Kramer also has experience advising clients on trade dress protection, dilution and anti-cybersquatting matters. Leigh C. Taggart is a partner in Honigman's IP Department and the in the IP Litigation, Patent, Trademark & Copyright and Private Equity Litigation practice groups. Taggart represents plaintiffs and defendants in patent, trademark, copyright, antitrust and trade secret cases throughout the United States. He has represented both individuals and some of the world's largest companies in patent disputes involving $25 million or more in damage claims, including several with over $100 million at stake.
Taggart serves clients in the medical device, silicon wafer, pharmaceutical, ophthalmic lens, automotive, consumer products and commercial jet engine industries. He also has significant experience in international trademark, unfair competition and commercial disputes in the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Lebanon and Australia. Orlans Group announced the hiring of Michael Gerendasy as MAI chief commercial appraiser of eAMC, a nationwide appraisal management company. Alison Orlans, president and CEO of Orlans Group made the announcement.
In this role, Gerendasy will be responsible for leading the preparation of the firm's commercial appraisals and market rent studies, as well as market and demographic analysis. He will also oversee the valuations performed on a variety of real estate properties, including general and medical office, industrial, retail, vacant land, subdivisions, hotels and apartments.
Prior to joining eAMC, he served as an appraiser and held leadership roles within various national appraisal and real property organizations throughout the United States. He has also presented many in-house lectures and seminars on finance and real estate valuation topics at Moffit College and San Francisco Community College. He earned his bachelor's degree and his master's of business administration from the University of Michigan.
