Max D. McCullough
Max D. McCullough, who practiced law in Macomb County for more than 50 years, died Aug. 25 at the age of 80.
During his long career, McCullough’s focus was family law. He was active in the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, served as chairperson of the Family Law Council and published numerous articles in the Family Law Journal.
McCullough served as a judge for the Michigan High School Moot Court, and was on the Attorney Grievance Panel.
He was also past president of the Macomb County Bar Association.
McCullough, a resident of Chesterfield Township, was born in Wingate, IN.
He served in the U.S. Army as an enlisted man and was promoted to lieutenant in the Army Intelligence Corps.
After graduating from Indiana University, McCullough earned his law degree from Wayne State University.
McCullough’s commitment to education led to many years of service, first on the L'Anse Creuse Public School Board and then on the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) Board.
As part of his association with MISD, McCullough was a member of the board of directors for SEMCOG (South East Michigan Council of Government).
Mccullough was survived by children A. Philip (Holly Hudson) McCullough and Kathryn (Matthew) McCroskery; a sister Ruth Ann (Roger) Newnum; and family friend Elaine Walton.
His wife, Josephine, preceded him in death in 2010.
Services were held at Harold W. Vick Funeral Home in Mount Clemens with burial at the Meharry Cemetery in New Richmond, IN.
The family suggested that contributions be made to Schooling for Homeless Children, The Homeless Project through MISD.
