Warner Norcross offers HR and benefits executive panel in Troy
The law firm of Warner Norcross & Judd LLP will offer a half-day executive panel on human resources on Monday, Oct. 26 in Troy.
The sessions will focus on labor and employee benefits, featuring case studies and panel discussions led by experienced Warner Norcross attorneys. The event, which will be held at the Troy Marriott at 200 West Big Beaver Road, begins with registration and a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. and wraps up with a networking lunch.
The panel discussions will cover a variety of timely employee benefits, executive compensation, labor and employment issues with the purpose of helping employers attract and retain an excellent workforce.
The Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation panel will be moderated by Lisa B. Zimmer and feature panelists April A. Goff and Mary Jo Larson. The Labor and Employment panel will be moderated by Steven A. Palazzolo and feature panelists Louis C. Rabaut, Allyson R. Terpsma and C. Ryan Grondzik.
The discussions will focus on:
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission requirements and rules for wellness programs
- EEOC health and retirement benefits, Title VII protection and accommodation requirements for employees who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender
- Reporting requirements for Affordable Care Act compliance and issues that may face employers as they report for the first time
- Administrative and investment committee governance
- Measuring the success of retirement plans and anticipating changing needs
- New FLSA regulation and salary exempt rules, misclassification of employees and what employers can do to ensure compliance
- The use of social media in hiring practices and employer rights during employee-led social media assaults
- Handling employee concerns and complaints
