MSU Law student establishing commercial aviation expertise

Taylor Strosnider is going places – and he’s getting there via plane.  

Currently finishing his law degree and MBA at Michigan State University, Taylor has authored three articles on commercial aviation that recently appeared in law review journals.

A Cincinnati native with a political science undergraduate degree from George Washington University, Taylor came to Michigan State to get the Big Ten experience and personalized attention that MSU Law is known for. “I wanted to diversify my education to increase my marketability,” said Taylor. “Legal positions are becoming more numerical and technological as the world continually becomes more innovation-focused.”

He plans to work in the aviation industry, and has interned with The Boeing Company in Seattle for three consecutive summers. He also spent a semester in Washington D.C. as an extern at the Army Court of Criminal Appeals, where he drafted four appellate briefs that were later argued before the federal court by the Government Appellate division of the Army's JAG Corps.

“Taylor’s combination of hands-on experience and legal scholarship is impressive.” said Professor Bruce W. Bean, who teaches corporate and International law at MSU Law. “He’s establishing his expertise in commercial aviation finance while he’s still a student, which represents exceptional drive and focus.  This will pay dividends in the future.”

Taylor’s credentials are attracting attention from employers: he recently received an offer to return to Boeing as a full-time employee when he graduates this spring. He’s also interviewing with multiple companies in the commercial aviation industry. Upon graduation, he plans to work in aviation while supporting the American military and Ohio’s public school teachers through pro bono work.

His recent publications include: "Freedom to Fly: The Hypocrisy Surrounding Transatlantic Commercial Aviation Regulation," Journal of Consumer & Commercial Law at the University of Houston Law Center; "Minimum Procedural Delay: A Legal Analysis of the U.S.-E.U. Open Skies Agreement, and the Fight to Increase North Atlantic Competition," Irish Journal of Legal Studies at University of College Cork; and "The Discount List:  Achieving Cape Town Convention Implementation and its Future," Issues in Aviation Law & Policy at DePaul University College of Law.
