Lawrence R. Jordan, managing partner of the Ann Arbor office of Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C., has been elected to the council of the Arts, Communication, Entertainment & Sports Section of the State Bar of Michigan; the Section provides education, information and analysis through meetings, seminars, public service programs and newsletters. .
As coordinator of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, Jordan focuses his practice on intellectual property, information technology, Internet, domain names, technology transfers, biotech, publishing and entertainment law. Over his 30 years of practice, he has represented companies, foundations and creative individuals in a broad range of intellectual property matters. This includes trademark and copyrights, and counseling on strategies to protect and commercialize inventions, creations and ideas.
Jordan is a frequent author and speaker at industry forums, and an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and Fellows of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. He sits on the Technology Advisory Board for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the Board of Directors for the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, is a lifetime member of the Friends of Ann Arbor Library, and a pro bono attorney for Jazzistry. His past chair positions include ACES and the Computer Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan (now the Information Technology Section).
Named a 2015 Super Lawyer by Superlawyers magazine and listed as one of the 2015 Best Lawyers in America, Jordan earned his bachelor's degree with distinction from the University of Michigan and his law degree from Wayne State University Law School, where he received the Bureau of National Affairs Award for graduating seniors.
