Williams Hughes, PLLC, a Muskegon law firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Horia Neagos as a new associate as of December 2014. Neagos, a graduate of Mona Shores High School, is returning to West Michigan to raise his family and grow his career as an attorney.
At Williams Hughes, Neagos specializes in litigation that involves the County of Muskegon and the County’s municipalities. He also focuses his work in general civil litigation including personal injury, real estate litigation, probate litigation, as well as criminal defense.
Neagos graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2005 where he played on the Varsity Soccer and Tennis Teams. He was recognized by Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference for soccer in 2003, the National Christian College Athletic Association All District/All Region for Soccer in 2003 and 2004, and the National Christian College Athletic Association All American Singles/Doubles Tennis in 2003 and 2005.
After he received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies and Liberal Arts, Neagos attended Michigan State University College of Law, and graduated Cum Laude in
2009. In his three years at law school, Neagos focused on trial practice and received the Professional Responsibility Jurisprudence Award, Administrative Law Jurisprudence Award, and Walter E. Oberor Trial Practice Institute Scholarship.
For two years during law school, Neagos was a legal intern at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where he continued after law school as an assistant prosecuting attorney for a number of years. After a few transitions between firms, Neagos arrived back in West Michigan and at Williams Hughes in December 2014.
Doug Hughes knew Horia from when he played soccer on the Mona Shores Soccer Team. Hughes saw the athletic and professional potential in Neagos, and so continued to coach and mentor him throughout high school. Neagos had been raised in Norton Shores since his family moved from Romania in 1996. With this diverse background, Neagos contributes to the Williams Hughes litigation specialty and the firm’s pro bono commitment.
Williams Hughes has served the West Michigan legal community since 1972, when the firm was known as Marcus, Ruck, Halbower, and Flynn. Over the years, the firm’s name and focus has changed, but its traditions of client and community service have not. The firm prides itself on its ability to anticipate and meet each client’s needs efficiently and effectively.
The firm’s attorneys hold degrees from a range of disciplines including a M.D., a Master of Science in Psychology, a Master of Public Administration, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting.
