After a decade of leading Warner Norcross, Douglas E. Wagner is turning the reins over to Douglas A. Dozeman. Dozeman stepped into the role of Managing Partner on January 1, managing day-to-day operations of one of Michigan’s largest law firms and guiding its strategic direction and growth.
“It has been a privilege to have been elected by my partners to lead Warner Norcross for the past 10 years,” said Wagner, a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. “Despite some of the most challenging economic conditions in recent memory, our firm has continued to thrive and to grow. This is a testament both to our clients and to the 230+ attorneys and the nearly 200 other legal team members who support us.
“I know that Doug Dozeman shares the same commitment to our mission of providing exceptional legal counsel and stellar client service. Warner Norcross is in good hands with Doug at the helm.”
Also a seasoned litigator, Dozeman brings more than 30 years of legal and management experience to his new role, including six years leading the Litigation Practice Group and several terms on the Management Committee. His practice focuses on protecting interests of businesses and individuals involved in complex civil litigation, scoring some of the largest financial wins for clients in recent Michigan history. Dozeman has been recognized as a Top 100 Lawyer in Michigan and elected to the American College of Trial Lawyers.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve as Managing Partner of Warner Norcross,” Dozeman said. “Doug has accomplished much during his tenure, and it is a privilege to build upon his strong track record of accomplishments. As a firm, we will work to ensure Warner Norcross is recognized as the preeminent law firm in Michigan with a reputation for creating practical, cost-effective legal solutions that advance the best interest of our clients.”
Under Wagner’s tenure – the longest in the firm’s 85-year history – Warner Norcross has: established new offices in Midland, Macomb County and Kalamazoo; committed to moving the firm’s flagship Grand Rapids office as the anchor tenant in an office tower opening in 2019; launched new practice areas to meet changing needs, including Mineral Rights and Mining, Data Solutions, Family Offices and others; welcomed significant new clients including privately held businesses, colleges and universities, government agencies and others; added new attorneys and paralegals across the firm’s growing footprint; appointed a Diversity Partner to spearhead the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives; provided more than $162,000 in scholarships to encourage minorities to pursue careers in the law; contributed more than $4 million to dozens of nonprofits and community initiatives, helping to make Michigan a better place to live and to work; received scores of honors and awards for work-life balance, commitment to diversity and inclusion, legal acumen and in other areas.
