The Association of Legal Administrators, Metropolitan Detroit Chapter, will present “Department of Labor Updates” on Wednesday, Feb. 24, with Miller Canfield attorneys Michael Alaimo and Brian M. Schwartz.
The DOL has proposed new regulations redefining so-called white-collar exemptions, plans to issue new guidance on classifying independent contractors, and has significantly ramped up enforcement in this area in recent years.
The speakers will be covering those developments and summarize the pro-active measures that an employer can take to avoid costly inadvertent noncompliance.
The program begins with check-in and networking from 11:30 a.m. to noon followed by the presentation from noon to 1 p.m. at Eddie Merlot’s, 37000 Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Hills.
There is no cost to ALA members; non-members pay $35.
Register with Cara Blazek at cblazek@plunkettcooney.com or 248.901.4082 no later than Friday, Feb. 19.
