Client need drives law firm's expansion to Lakeshore

Michigan-based law firm Smith Haughey Rice Roegge (SHRR) announced today the addition of a fifth office within the lakeshore community of Holland. Jaron Nyhof and Jack Marquis — two well-established and highly-regarded business attorneys who have practiced in Holland for decades – will join the firm as the backbone of the Holland office. With offices in Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Muskegon and Ann Arbor, an addition along Michigan’s Lake-shore is both long awaited and highly anticipated.

“Smith Haughey throughout its history has always been committed to the communities of West Michigan and to participating in those communities whether its providing legal services to individuals and businesses or participating as community leaders in so many different ways,” said Bill Jack, SHRR CEO and shareholder. “Our Holland office, along with our other offices along the lakeshore, is not so much about changing the landscape
of the law as it is a rededication and recommitment to the exciting future of West Michigan.”

The firm has been considering the idea of an expansion in Holland for a year, as the client base continues to grow along the lakeshore. The opportunity on the lakeshore will allow the firm to develop different areas of the business by working with new, different clients. Esquire Nyhof and Marquis bring to the firm a specialized focus in business, corporate and transactional law and in return, Smith Haughey offers valuable propositions for emerging businesses and individuals in that area.

“We are committed to serving West Michigan and Holland was a logical area of expansion for our firm,” said Lori Gibson, SHRR COO. “Holland is a thriving and growing community. We have many attorneys with strong connections to Holland, and we serve numerous Holland clients.  We believe we can meet their needs even better, and serve other Holland clients, with an office in the community.”

SHRR is no stranger to investing in local communities. In 2010 the law firm served as the driving force behind the renovation of downtown Grand Rapids’ historic Flat Iron Building located at the intersection of Ottawa Avenue and Monroe Center. SHRR prefers to operate from the heart of each location’s city to better serve the communities responsible for their success. As stated on their website, SHRR believes service to others is both a responsibility and a privilege.

The 2,000-square-foot office will be located at 170 College Ave., inside the Curtis Center building in downtown Holland.
