The American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section will honor New York attorney Kim D. Hogrefe with its Andrew C. Hecker Memorial Award during the Second Annual TIPS Section Conference May 11-15 in Atlanta.
The award, which recognizes the late Andres C. Hecker, is presented annually to a lawyer who has consistently demonstrated and continues to demonstrate, the qualities of leadership, outreach, enthusiasm, professionalism and pride in TIPS and its accomplishments. It will be presented on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m. ET, at the Section Conference Gala Dinner at the World of Coca-Cola Museum.
"During the 25-plus years that Kim has actively served TIPS, he has devoted countless hours to innumerable section activities. As finance officer, he provided valuable financial insight and direction on our complex budgetary needs. The pride Kim has consistently expressed in TIPS is among the criteria for the award, and the section is grateful to have this opportunity to express our pride in Kim by presenting him with the 2016 Andrew C. Hecker Memorial Award," said G. Glennon Troublefield, chair of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. "The strength and stability of the section are a direct result of his ability to lead."
Hogrefe served on the TIPS Council as finance officer and as co-chair of the Professionals' Officers' and Directors' Liability Committee. He currently serves as treasurer of the TIPS Fellows, as a member of the Finance Committee, the Cybersecurity Task Force, the Insurance Academy Task Force, the Section Conference Task Force and as vice-chair of the Corporate Counsel Committee.
Hogrefe currently serves as secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Judicial College, which provides education and training for state court, administrative law and tribal judges in the United States. As past senior vice president of Chubb & Son, he served as the senior specialty claim officer of Chubb's Claim Department. Prior to his 30-year tenure with Chubb, Hogrefe served as assistant district attorney for the New York County District Attorney's Office.
Hogrefe received his undergraduate degree in political science from Yale University in 1974 and his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1977.
