The third annual “Walk for Justice” took place Saturday, April 23 at the Detroit Zoo in support of the Salvation Army’s William Booth Legal Aid Clinic (WBLAC). ?Getting ready to hit the trail to raise funds for the clinic were (left to right) Sharon Filas, WBLAC Director Amy Roemer, Steven Burzynski, Roger Smith, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Denise Langford Morris, Lori Kaczmarek, retired Judge Fred Mester, Mary Lynne Roemer, Matthew Nagaj, Barbara Kopasz, Rebekah White, Richard Halprin and Sean Fox. The WBLAC was founded in 1994 by Robert and Ellen Dickman with the goal of paving the way to fresh starts and new opportunities for those struggling with addiction. In addition to assisting those participating in the Salvation Army treatment programs, the clinic expanded its mission to provide quality legal services to low income individuals, families, and U.S. military veterans in the community. The WBLAC is affiliated with the Metro Detroit law schools offering practical experience opportunities including internships, externships and work-study programs.
