The law firm of Fraser Trebilcock, with offices in Lansing, Detroit and Grand Rapids, was among sponsors of an all-women charity flag football game that raised more than $35,000 for the Michigan Great Lakes Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
In this game called RivALZ, two "rival" young professional groups of "ALZ"-heimer's advocates battled each other on the field and in a contest to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's disease.
Team MSU comprised members of the Young Professional Alzheimer's Advocates of Lansing (YPAAL), and the victorious Team U of M featured Young Professional Alzheimer's Advocates of Washtenaw County (YPAAW). Michigan State University hosted the game at Ralph Young Field. The female players were supported by a cheerleading team of men in purple tutus.
Fraser Trebilcock Marketing Director Julie Holton served as chair of the RivALZ Committee and co-chair of YPAAL.
"More than half of the $35,000 raised from this event came from attorneys, dedicated to making a difference in our communities," said Holton. "We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support from all of our sponsors and donors And not only did we raise funding and awareness for the fight against Alzheimer's disease, we have already been approached by new businesses with fresh ideas for next year's game! We'll alternate host cities each year so we'll see you next spring in Ann Arbor!"
