GAYLORD (AP) — A lack of a full home address on nominating petitions is keeping a judicial candidate off the August ballot in northern Michigan.
The state Court of Appeals said it won’t force officials to put David Delaney on the ballot for 46th Circuit Court judge. The court serves Kalkaska, Otsego and Crawford counties.
Delaney collected signatures to get on the ballot. But election officials found his street name, Abbey, was missing from two pages. As a result, signatures on those pages were rejected, and the Gaylord lawyer was short by 16.
The appeals court says there’s no wiggle room. In a 3-0 decision, the court says the lack of a complete home address makes the signatures invalid.
