Wayne Law appoints new director of employer development


Tishia Browning has been appointed director of employer development in Wayne State University Law School’s Career Services office.

Browning specializes in employer outreach and advises students seeking employment within law firms and the corporate sector.

She succeeded Kathy Fox, who was appointed assistant dean of admissions for Wayne Law.

Prior to joining Wayne Law, Browning worked for JD Advising LLC, where she counseled and tutored law students from throughout the nation and worked closely with recent graduates from a variety of law schools to prepare them for the Michigan Bar Exam. Previously, she practiced commercial litigation at Mantese Honigman.

Browning of Allen Park graduated in 2014 from Wayne Law, where she received the Gold Key Certificate. While in law school, Browning was a member of Wayne Law Review and served on the Board of Directors for the Free Legal Aid Clinic. Upon graduation, Browning was elected to the Order of the Coif. Browning also holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

 

Law student selected for public interest leadership position
 

Husnah Khan, a rising second-year student at Wayne State University Law School, has been appointed deputy lieutenant governor of public interest for the American Bar Association Law Student Division’s Sixth Circuit.

In this role, Khan will be responsible for promoting service opportunities within the campus community and serving as a mentor. She also will write articles for the Sixth Circuit newsletter, represent the Sixth Circuit among school leaders in the region and coordinate events.

The Law Student Division comprises 15 regional circuits. The Sixth Circuit serves law students in Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky.

Earlier this month, Khan was awarded a 2016 AmeriCorps JD Fellowship through her work as a summer intern at the University of Michigan’s Innocence Clinic.

At Wayne Law, she is a member of the Women’s Law Caucus and the International Law Students Association. For 2016-17, she will serve as president of the Muslim Law Students Association..
