PORT HURON (AP) — Judge Robert Cleland will replace the late Judge Lawrence Zatkoff as the resident U.S. District judge in Port Huron, which is where he grew up.
The Times Herald of Port Huron reports that Cleland will move from the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit to Port Huron in September or October.
The court has been without a resident judge since Zatkoff died of cancer at age 75 early last year.
Cleland was born in St. Clair and served as the St. Clair County prosecutor for three terms beginning in 1981. He was appointed a judge by President George Bush in 1990.
