Kerene Moore is a supervising attorney for Legal Services of South Central Michigan’s Ann Arbor office, a division of the Michigan Advocacy Program that serves underrepresented clients in Washtenaw County.
She earned her Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Michigan.
Moore is active in a number of community organizations, serving on the board of directors for Equality Michigan, as co-chair of the Washtenaw County Bar Association's LGBT Rights Section, and as vice president of the Jim Toy Community Center. In March 2016, she was also appointed to the City of Ann Arbor’s Human Rights Commission by Mayor Christopher Taylor.
Moore was recently recognized by the LGBT Bar Association as one of the country’s Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40, with a ceremony last week during the annual Lavender Law Conference in Washington D.C.
Moore regularly advocates on behalf of marginalized community members, but has spent the past few years working to increase legal support to the LGBT community. In 2015, she helped spearhead the Know Your Rights Project, a collaborative work of the Jim Toy Community Center, the Outlaws of the University of Michigan Law School, LSSCM, and volunteer attorneys. The goal of the project is to offer legal advice and referrals through the Jim Toy Community Center, an LGBT resource center.
