The Ayar Law Group recently announced the founding of the Ayar Law Group Scholarship for Tax Excellence to be awarded to two University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) School of Law students annually for five years.
Venar Ayar, principal and founding tax attorney for Ayar Law group, established the scholarship to provide financial support to students who are seeking a law degree to pursue a career in tax law, and who demonstrate a strong commitment by excelling academically in upper level tax courses at UDM School of Law.
The $25,000 gift will be disbursed annually, $5,000 per year over five years, in increments of $2,500 to two UDM tax law students who achieve the highest grade in upper level tax courses.
"I have a great deal of respect for the University of Detroit Mercy and their commitment to the legal community, both academically and professionally," said Ayar. "The majority of the attorneys I've hired at the firm are graduates of the School of Law at Detroit Mercy. I really wanted to give back to the university and help students in the field of tax law ease the financial burden of law school. At the end of five years, this scholarship will have helped 10 students pursue their dream of becoming a lawyer."
Ayar is the principal and founder of Ayar Law Group and focuses his legal practice on IRS and Michigan tax resolution for both businesses and individuals. A strong proponent of education, Ayar earned his Juris Doctor degree at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law. After graduation, Ayar continued his legal education at USD and earned an LLM degree, a Master of Law in Taxation. This is the highest degree available in tax law and is held by a small number of attorneys nationwide.
Born and raised in Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, Ayar returned to his home state to open a tax problem resolution practice when he saw the alarming number of taxpayers struggling due to the down turn in the local economy. Prior to opening his Michigan practice, Ayar was a tax attorney at RJS Law, southern California's largest tax law firm, and worked for several years in metro Detroit as a busy and successful solo tax law practitioner.
In addition to the Scholarship for Tax Excellence, Ayar plans to work with the university to help mentor students pursuing a degree and career in tax law.
